How to print a webpage from your phone (iPhone, Android)
Print a webpage or article from your iPhone or Android phone in Safari or Chrome, save it as a PDF, and what to do without an AirPrint printer.
To print a webpage from your phone, open it in your browser, tap Share, then tap Print and choose your printer. An iPhone prints to an AirPrint printer on the same Wi-Fi network; an Android phone prints to a printer it can reach over Wi-Fi or a mobile network.
The exact taps depend on your phone and browser. Here they are, along with how to save the page as a PDF and what to do when you have no compatible printer.
Print a webpage on iPhone in Safari
- Open the page in Safari.
- Tap Share. If it isn't on the toolbar, tap the page menu button in the address bar first, then tap Share.
- Tap Print. If you don't see it, swipe up.
- Tap No Printer Selected and choose your AirPrint printer.
- Choose the number of copies and which pages you want.
- Tap Print in the upper-right corner.
Printing an article? Turn on Reader first: tap the page menu button in the address bar, then Show Reader. Safari formats the page to show just the relevant text and images, without navigation menus. Then print as above. On pages where Reader isn't offered, Hide Distracting Items in the same menu lets you tap a banner or menu, then Hide, to remove it from the page before you print.
Print a webpage on iPhone in Chrome
Chrome on an iPhone prints with AirPrint too.
- Open the page in the Chrome app.
- At the top right, tap Share.
- Tap View more, then Print.
- Choose your printer and settings.
- Tap Print.
Print a webpage on Android in Chrome
- Open the page in the Chrome app.
- At the top right, tap More (three dots), then Share.
- Tap Print.
- At the top, select your printer.
- To change any print settings, tap the Down arrow.
- Tap Print.
These steps are the same on any Android phone with Chrome, Samsung Galaxy phones included.
To look at an article in a cleaner layout first, tap More, then Show Reading mode. You can change the font, text size and background there. If a page can't be shown that way, Chrome tells you reading mode is unavailable.
Save a webpage as a PDF on your phone
A PDF is handy when there's no printer nearby: it keeps the page as it looks now, and you can print it later from any device.
iPhone (Safari):
- Open the page, tap Share (inside the page menu if it isn't on the toolbar).
- Tap Markup. You can highlight or write on the page if you like.
- When you're done, choose Save File To, enter a name for the file and tap Save.
To print the PDF later, open it in the Preview app, tap the button next to the file name, then tap Print and choose a printer.
Android (Chrome):
- Open the page, tap More, then Share, then Print.
- At the top, tap Save as PDF instead of a printer.
- Choose where to save the file on your phone.
Print without AirPrint
An iPhone prints wirelessly through AirPrint, so the printer has to support it and be on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. AirPrint works over Wi-Fi or a wired network connection; a printer plugged into the USB port of an AirPort base station, or connected to a computer by Bluetooth, can't use it. If you're not sure whether your printer supports AirPrint, check with the printer's manufacturer.
If it doesn't, save the page as a PDF (see above), send the file to a computer that's connected to the printer, and print it from there.
Android phones print through print services instead. To add one for your printer:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Connected devices, then Connection preferences, then Printing.
- Tap a print service to turn it on, or tap Add service to add another, such as your printer maker's.
Some of these steps only work on Android 9 and later.
For the same steps on a computer, in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, see How to print a webpage. To get a clean printout of a story without the clutter around it, see How to print an article from a website and How to print an article without ads.

Common questions
Why don't I see Print on my iPhone?
In the share sheet, swipe up: Print is often further down the list. Not every app supports printing, so if an app has no print option, open the page in Safari and print from there.
Why can't my iPhone find my printer?
Check that the printer supports AirPrint and that it and your iPhone are on the same Wi-Fi network. Printers connected to a computer by Bluetooth, or plugged into the USB port of an AirPort base station, can't use AirPrint.
How do I cancel a print job on my iPhone?
Open the App Switcher and tap Print Center. Select the job, then tap Cancel Printing.
Why can't my Android phone find my printer?
Your phone needs a printer it can reach over Wi-Fi or a mobile network. Open Settings, then Connected devices, Connection preferences and Printing, and make sure a print service is turned on. If your printer isn't listed, tap Add service to add one.
